St George's Day is a day of remembrance for Saint George, celebrated on 23 April in many countries, especially in England. Saint George is the patron saint of England, and the day has great significance in British culture and traditions.

Saint George was a Christian martyr and warrior who lived in the 3rd and 4th centuries in the Roman Empire. He became famous for his exploits, especially the legend of how he killed a dragon to save a princess. This story symbolises the struggle between good and evil. Saint George was canonised and is revered as the patron saint of many countries, including Georgia, Portugal and Catalonia, and as a protector of Christians. In England, he has become a national hero.
